About Me

I was born in Hamedan, a province celebrated as a cultural and artistic hub in Iran. Renowned as the center of ceramics and pottery, this historic city deeply influenced my early connection to the arts. From childhood, I was surrounded by creativity. My mother, a weaving expert, not only taught private classes at home but also worked with children with disabilities, teaching them knitting and crafts. Watching her dedication to her work was both inspiring and transformative.

My love for art began at an early age, fueled by the materials I saw my mother use—canvas, fabric, thread, and paper. I was drawn to the creative process and eagerly explored various art forms, attending classes in painting, cartoon-making, photography, engraving, pottery, and knitting. However, painting and pottery resonated with me most.

When my family moved to Dubai, I was introduced to ceramics and pottery in a new way. I began creating pottery by hand, captivated by the idea of shaping pieces without a wheel. This process allowed me to merge creativity with craftsmanship, as I shaped the clay by hand and painted each piece afterward, infusing them with individuality and emotion.

After relocating to Canada, I sought to deepen my skills by joining pottery classes to learn wheel-throwing techniques. This opened up new creative possibilities. I began combining wheel-thrown forms with hand-sculpted details, giving each piece a distinctive character. Painting on my pottery added a final layer of expression, uniting my three artistic loves—sculpting, wheel work, and painting.

Working with clay is more than just a craft; it’s a meditative experience. From the moment I start kneading the clay to shaping it on the wheel, I enter a world of focus and tranquility. It’s an immersive process where time seems to stop. Sometimes, I talk to my pieces, laugh with them, or share my thoughts. There are moments when I sing to them or even dance with them in my hands. This connection transforms the creative act into a deeply personal journey.

The ultimate joy comes when I open the kiln and see the finished pieces—each one reflecting the care and creativity I poured into it. That moment of unveiling is incomparable, a testament to the transformative power of art.

I’m fortunate to have the love and encouragement of my family. My husband, who has been a constant source of support, often tells me that the pottery I create feels like his pets. He cherishes each piece, treating them with care and enjoying their presence in our home. My daughter is also one of my biggest fans. She loves my work and encourages me constantly, inspiring me to keep pushing my creative boundaries.

Art has been my lifelong passion, and through pottery, I’ve found a medium that allows me to create, connect, and express myself in ways that transcend words.
